Water Supply Facilities Work Plan Amendment – CPA-08-WSP1

Changes to the Growth Management Act (Chapter 163, F.S.) and the Water Resources Act (Chapter 373, F.S.) by the State Legislature require local governments to update their respective comprehensive plans to address water supply planning and to adopt related amendments. These changes are intended to strengthen the link between comprehensive planning and regional water supply planning processes. The County Council approved Ordinance 2008-24 on April 16, 2009 which adopted the amendments to the County’s Comprehensive Plan intended to address these requirements. The adopted amendment package was found in compliance by the Department of Community Affairs (FDCA) as required by State Statute.

The adopted amendment includes the water supply sources selected from the source options identified for consideration by the County in the District Water Supply Plan approved by the St. Johns River Water Management District in February 2006. The County notified the SJRWMD of the selected sources in the required water supply entity notification response letter. The two sources selected by the County from the DWSP include:

  • Seminole County Yankee Lake Surface Water Plant; and
  • Volusia/Sanford Reclaimed Water Interconnect
