County adds virtual tour to Ocean Center web site

Thousands have seen the all-new Ocean Center space with their own eyes, but now tourists, planners and others from around the world can tour the newly expanded Volusia County Ocean Center in Daytona Beach from their own computers. The online virtual tour is the latest tool to help put the facility and the destination on meeting planners’ short lists.

The Ocean Center virtual tour can be accessed from the homepage of www.oceancenter.com. The tour showcases 17 spaces in and around the facility, including the exhibit hall, arena, ballroom, meeting rooms, pre-function areas, corridors/concourses, the Ocean Center’s Auditorium Boulevard and A1A entrances, and parking areas. Arrow symbols connect images of adjacent spaces and can be clicked on to move the viewer from one area to the next. The tour also can be e-mailed to prospective clients or downloaded by viewers.

“For years, the real estate market has used virtual tours as effective and proactive sales tools that motivate people to take the next step and visit a property,” said George Recktenwald, Ocean Center interim director. “That’s exactly what we want to do with the Ocean Center virtual tour."

“When people come here in person, they love it,” added Recktenwald. “Now we can bring them here virtually before they ever step foot inside. Planners will be able to see exactly how well their event will fit in the Ocean Center space. We anticipate the tour will be a helpful sales tool.”

The online service has many advantages. The online virtual tour offers 24/7 accessibility, can be navigated without installing software or plug-ins, doesn’t cause long download times for users, and offers panoramic and scenic views of spaces that static photos cannot.
