Burn ban issued for City of Deltona

The Deltona Fire & Rescue Department issued a burn ban for the City of Deltona, effective at 12:01 a.m., Wednesday (May 14).  The Ban will remain in effect until further notice.

The burn ban prohibits all outdoor burning, with the exception of outdoor grill cooking (in-ground fire pits are not included). City of Deltona burn permits are also suspended with this burn ban. The setting of fires to brush or forest, unless authorized by the Florida Department of Forestry, is considered a violation of the law, and is punishable by a $500 fine, 60 days in jail, or a combination of both.

Unusually high drought indicators, along with extremely dry conditions and a lack of rainfall have lead to the issuance of this burn ban.

For more information, call the Deltona Fire & Rescue Communications Office at (386) 860-7177.  Media inquiries should be directed to Assistant Fire Chief, David Faer, (386) 717-1532 or the City of Deltona Communications Office, (386) 878-8755 or (386) 878-8756.
