Homeowners Eligible For Flood Damage Grants

September 4, 2009 Bunnell Fl. -- Flagler County homeowners whose homes were damaged during the May flood can qualify for financial help from state funds.

The Flagler County Commission approved the use of State Housing Initiative Partnership funds for up to $5000 grants per household. If the damages cost more than $5,000 the addition expense may be granted as a deferred payment loan.

Assistance will be provided on a first come, first served basis. Priority will be given to disabled head of household and residents who are 62 years of age or older. To qualify for the grant applicants must provide a settlement statement from their homeowners insurance and repair estimate from a licensed contractor, the value of the home may not exceed $189,682, the home must be the primary residence, and meet SHIP income guidelines.
