Mission:
To maintain the County's transportation system of roads and bridges,
provide a safe system, and protect the investment in that system. To develop and provide
high levels of service by planning, scheduling, directing and controlling work.
The Road and Bridge Division maintains approximately 1,049 miles of roadways in the
unincorporated area of Volusia County, an additional 514 miles of roadways for newly
incorporated cities, and 51 Bridges, including 3 bascule bridges
(drawbridges) that operate around the clock. Road and Bridge employees are responsible for
maintaining and upgrading the existing transportation system throughout the County. This
includes asphalt repair, mowing, drainage, dirt road maintenance, tree removal work,
mixing and mining of roadway materials and maintenance of all bridges.
The Road and Bridge Division has programs to regularly inspect the roadways and its
features. We request the help of all our citizens in reporting safety hazards such as pot
holes, sight distance problems, flooding, tree problems, litter and any other problems on
the rights-of-way. You can call the number listed below in your area to report concerns.
