Remember to recycle right:
The dual-sort system

What is it?

The dual-sort system uses two bins - one for fiber paper materials and one for co-mingled "containers." Two bins enhance our program by adding more materials and improving the quality of what is recycled.

How will works

Bin one
One bin will be for fiber paper materials including:

  • Newspaper (with inserts)
  • Phone books
  • Junk mail
  • Magazines
  • Mixed office paper
  • Cardboard, including corrugated, cereal boxes, snack boxes, etc. Please fold cardboard to 4’ x 4’ size. Do not tie or bundle flattened cardboard boxes together.

Bin 1

Bin two
The other bin will be for co-mingled containers, including:

  • Aluminum and steel cans
  • Glass bottles (clear, green and amber)
  • Plastic containers coded 1-7.

Bin 2

Sorry, no Styrofoam or plastic bags!

Helpful hints
Residents may put paper materials in a paper grocery bag and place the bag on top of their co-mingled containers, using a single bin system.

If you have large cardboard boxes, please flatten and stack them between or under bins.
