About Our Office
Of the 67 Florida
counties, 64 have Tax Collectors who are elected officials. Volusia
County is a Charter Government, which calls for tax collection to be
part of County Government and handled by an appointed official.
Therefore, instead of the Volusia County “Tax Collector’s” Office, it is
the “Revenue” Division, and the appointed official in charge of the
division is the Revenue Director.
The Volusia County Revenue Office is a Division of the Financial &
Administrative Services Department. The Revenue Division is an agent for
the Florida Department of Revenue, the Florida Department of Highway
Safety and Motor Vehicles, and the Florida Fish & Wildlife Conservation
Commission.
Transactions conducted by the Revenue Division include: collecting
property taxes for the local taxing authorities; processing auto, boat,
and mobile home registrations and renewals; issuing business tax
receipts; collecting tourist and convention development tax; and selling
hunting and fishing licenses. The Revenue Division also serves as
cashier for other County revenues.
