Advisory boards and committees

Children and Family Advisory Board 

The mission of the Children and Family Advisory Board (CFAB) is to promote healthy children and develop strong families, which contribute to their communities.

The board meets a minimum of quarterly, consists of nine members, and is responsible for:

  • Assessing and evaluating children and community needs
  • Developing strategies to meet these needs
  • Establishing program outcomes
  • Monitoring program compliance
  • Advertising funding availability
  • Recommending appropriations for various programs servicing children and families
  • Provide advice and recommendations to the county


Affordable Housing Advisory Committee 

The mission of the Affordable Housing Advisory Committee (AHAC) is established pursuant to the requirements of Florida Statutes, Section 420.9076, and as directed by the Volusia County Council. The AHAC’s mission is to review the established policies and procedures, ordinances, land development regulations, and adopted local government comprehensive plan of Volusia County and to recommend specific actions or initiatives to encourage affordable housing while protecting the ability of the property to appreciate in value, and other affordable housing issues as directed.


Human Services Advisory Board 

The Human Services Advisory Board (HSAB) is responsible for making recommendations and fully participating in the development, planning, implementation and evaluation of the CSBG program to serve low-income communities within Volusia County. 

The board is constituted to ensure that one-third of the members are elected public officials; at least one-third are chosen in accordance with democratic selection procedures adequate to ensure that these members are representatives of low-income individuals and families in the neighborhood served; and the remainder of the members are officials or members of business, industry, labor, religious organizations, law enforcement, education, or other major groups and interests in the community served.
