Beach Furniture Ordinance

In August, Volusia County Council passed a new ordinance (2012-13) that allows county staff to remove any items left on the beach between the hours of 9 p.m. and 6 a.m.

During a brief education period, county staff will not remove items from the beach but instead, educate beach goers, condo owners and hotel managers about the serious hazards items such as tents and chairs pose to people and wildlife.

After the education period, items left unattended on the beach during the restricted hours will be considered abandoned and removed and discarded by county staff.
