Solid Waste and Recycling

Mission: To safely dispose of all solid waste material generated in Volusia County. To develop and maintain recycling and education programs to reduce solid waste by 30 percent as mandated by the 1988 State Solid Waste Management Act.

Residents who live in the unincorporated areas of Volusia County are provided waste services through Volusia County’s Solid Waste Division. Residents are charged for service by an annual $190 non-ad-valorem assessment per residential unit.

THANKSGIVING DAY COLLECTION SCHEDULE

For unincorporated Volusia County residents there will be no refuse, recycling, or yard trash collection on the upcoming Thanksgiving Day holiday on Thursday, November 27th. The makeup day for collection will be Saturday, November 29th. Please place containers at the curb by 6:00 AM, Saturday, November 29th for collection.

Both the West Volusia Transfer Station and the Tomoka Farms Road Landfill will be closed Thanksgiving Day, Thursday, November 27th. Regular operating hours for both locations resume Friday, November 28th. However, the Administration offices will be closed in observance of the Thanksgiving holiday November 27th and 28th. Administrative offices reopen at 8:00 AM, Monday, December 1st.
