Traffic Engineering
Mission: To enhance the quality of life for residents and visitors by providing essential services for the safe and efficient movement of both vehicle and pedestrian traffic throughout Volusia County. This is accomplished through the planning, design, implementation, operation and maintenance of traffic control devices (such as traffic signals, school zone flashers, curve warning flashers) and studies that recommend roadway signing or pavement markings in accordance with standard engineering practices. The Traffic Engineering Division assists the Florida DOT and numerous municipalities in accomplishing this same mission.
Florida 511 is real-time information collected by Intelligent Transportation Systems to travelers and commuters to help with trip decisions.

Handicap Parking Requirements
Please refer to the requirements under the Florida Statutes, Volusia County Land Development Code and FDOT Standard Plans Index 711-001 for Pavement Markings (see page 11 of 13) and 700-102 for Special Sign Details (see page 4 of 12).
NOTE: The Volusia County Land Development Code takes precedence where the requirements are greater.
