On this date, at apporoximately 1450 hrs, Ruth Harwood (V-1) and Rachel Houghton (V-2) had gone to the above mentioned park and parked the vehicle in the East parking lot. Both persons had put their purses under the front seats in an effort to conceal them. Upon returning to the car, they discovered one of the rear passenger windows to be broken out and their purses removed. The vehicle was checked for latent prints but to no avail. An area canvass produced negative results. Case continue to Deputy Yackel.
Isaac Gomez (V-1) advised that on this date, between the hours of 0600 and 2000, an unknown person(s) entered his home through an unlocked window and removed items from within. The scene was checked for prints but to no avail. A neighborhood canvass was conducted but produced negative results.
Adult male reports that he was sexually battered while spending the night at a friend’s house. V-1 originally stated that he was willing to go to the rape crisis center for evaluation. It was at this time that the on call investigator, Inv. Ford, was called and responded to the scene. The case was then turned over to investigator Ford. It was later that investigator Ford advised that V-1 refused to go to R.C.C. Case T.O.T C.I.D.
V1 was located at the above residence after his wife reported him missing and suicidal, several hours prior, to the Deland Police Department. V1 was taken into custody without incident and transported to Act Corp.
Kathleen Gare reported sometime on Saturday night unknown suspect(s) damaged the window of her vehicle.
John Newberry 04-25-79 was arrested for an open felony warrant for narcotics and was transported to the jail without incident.
