At
approximately 3 p.m., bank employees called the Volusia County
Sheriff’s Office to report that two armed black men entered the Harbor
Federal Savings Bank, 1190 Ocean Shore Blvd. They demanded that the
tellers hand over money from their drawers, and the victims complied.
Only four people were in the bank at the time, one of them being a
customer who was in a back room and didn’t know what had happened. The
robbers ran out of the store and drove away in a cream-colored Chevrolet
Impala. Deputies arrived within minutes of being dispatched and
immediately set up a perimeter and started surveillance on possible
escape routes. A Sheriff’s Office helicopter and K-9 units joined in
the search. The getaway car was then located abandoned on Essex Drive
less than a mile away, leading investigators to believe the suspects may
have gotten into another vehicle.
The
suspects were black males dressed in dark clothes. They were between
5’2” and 5’8”. One had a thin build while the other was of a
medium build.
Anyone
