SHERIFF’S OFFICE LOOKING FOR POSSIBLE INJURED CHILD

The Volusia County Sheriff’s Office is seeking the public’s help in finding a child who might have been injured after falling out of or being stuck by a vehicle in Deltona Friday afternoon. Witnesses in the 800 block of Merrimac Street reported to the Sheriff’s Office that at approximately 4:55 p.m. they heard tires squealing on the street. They looked outside and saw a girl, believed to be about seven or eight years old, on the ground beside a car. Witnesses say the child wasn’t moving. A man got out of the car, picked up the girl, put her in the car and drove away, heading in the direction of Saxon Boulevard. Deputies want to check on the girl to make sure she isn’t injured.

The car was described as a 1990 or 1991, dark blue or black Chevrolet with a blue Chevrolet emblem on the back. It’s a two-door car with a license plate number of F42GHI. The driver was a white male in his early 20s, about 6’2” tall with short hair, glasses and a gray tank top.

Anyone with information about the vehicle or driver is asked to call the Sheriff’s Office at (386) 736-5999.
