92-YEAR-OLD DEBARY MAN REPORTED MISSING

The Volusia County Sheriff’s Office is seeking the public’s help in searching for a 92-year-old DeBary man who apparently walked away from his home Friday afternoon and hasn’t been seen since.

The Sheriff’s Office launched a search for Serge Doronin after he was reported missing from his home at 107 Floridana Road at 3:51 p.m. Friday afternoon. Doronin lives alone and doesn’t have a car. He was last seen at around 11:30 a.m., when volunteers delivered food to his house. But when a caseworker with the Council on Aging went to check on Doronin shortly before 4 p.m., Doronin was gone. Patrol deputies and a Sheriff’s K-9 team have been searching for Doronin and checking with area hospitals and bus stations, but as of 6:45 p.m. on Friday evening had not located him.

Doronin, who is believed to be in the early stages of dementia, is known to wear tan clothing, although deputies aren’t certain what he was wearing today. He’s 5’7” and about 100 pounds. Anyone with information regarding Doronin’s whereabouts is asked to call the Sheriff’s Office at (386) 736-5999.

Update: 8:01 p.m.

Serge Doronin, the subject of a missing persons search, returned to his DeBary home safe and sound at approximately 7:30 p.m. Doronin did not walk away from his home, as officials originally had feared. He was at the dentist and was brought back to his home by a medical transport service.
