NEW SMYRNA BEACH MAN FOUND DEAD UNDER CAR

A 63-year-old man was found by his wife dead under his car Friday afternoon near New Smyrna Beach. A preliminary investigation reveals that Richard Corner was apparently working on a car in his driveway at 330 S. Wild Orange Drive. When Volusia County Fire Services arrived on scene the car’s engine was running and the hood was up. Corner was found all the way underneath the car, which appeared to have moved several feet during the incident.

Corner’s wife had discovered him there when she had returned home shortly after 4 p.m. Corner was pronounced dead by EVAC ambulance paramedics at approximately 4:17. The incident is under investigation, but it appears to be an accident at this time.
