SHERIFF'S OFFICE INVESTIGATING DELTONA SHOOTING

The Volusia County Sheriff’s Office is investigating a shooting incident in Deltona that sent a 31-year-old man to the hospital early Sunday morning. The Sheriff’s Office was notified at approximately 2:33 a.m. by personnel at Florida Hospital Fish Memorial, Orange City, where the victim was brought in by a shooting witness. The patient was then transported by EVAC ambulance to Halifax Health Medical Center in Daytona Beach. Alexis Bonilla is currently recovering in the intensive care unit from his non-life threatening injuries.

 

Bonilla, who lives in Deltona, was shot twice while in a parking lot near The Moon Tropical Bar, 1200 Deltona Blvd. Investigators have so far discovered that the victim had left the bar after it closed and then was confronted by a man in his late teens or early twenties, about 5’6” tall, 130-140 pounds with buzz cut blond hair. A witness heard the suspect yelling and then heard two shots. The suspect was then seen jumping into the driver seat of an older model white, four-door Pontiac Bonneville or Grand Prix. The witness also saw another young man with black hair in the passenger seat as the car sped away.
