MAN SHOT IN KNEE AT DELTONA PARK

The Volusia County Sheriff’s Office is investigating a Monday evening shooting in Deltona that sent an 18-year-old man to the hospital with a single gunshot wound to his knee. The victim said that he had heard multiple gunshots, but no other injuries were reported. The man was taken to Florida Hospital Fish Memorial, Orange City by a friend.

Feliciano Potter told deputies that he was playing basketball at Firefighters Park, 1366 Lombardy Drive. At about 10:24 p.m., Potter said he heard gunshots and he fell to the ground with a shot to his left knee. After the incident, a friend drove Potter to the hospital, and the emergency room staff then contacted the Sheriff’s Office.

The victim and his friend said that they saw an older model white car, possibly an Oldsmobile, occupied by two black males. No other suspect information is available at this time. Anyone with information about this incident is asked to contact investigator Craig Yackel at (386) 860-7030 or Crime Stoppers of Northeast Florida, toll-free, at 1-888-277-TIPS. Callers to Crime Stoppers will remain anonymous and can qualify for a reward of up to $1,000.
