MAN HOLDS UP DEBARY CONVENIENCE STORE

The Volusia County Sheriff’s Office is investigating a Wednesday morning armed robbery of a DeBary convenience store. A man with a knife entered the store and demanded money from the only employee present. The robber then grabbed some cash and fled. No one was injured during the incident. Several deputies and a K-9 unit responded to the scene, but the suspect was not found.

The Sheriff’s Office was notified that there had been a robbery at the Kangaroo convenience story, 399 S. Charles R. Beall Blvd. at approximately 2:45 a.m. The 18-year-old victim told responding deputies that she was in a back room when she heard the store’s door open. She walked into the main part of the store and was immediately confronted by a man with a knife. The robber threatened her with the weapon and demanded that she hand over some money. She gave him cash from the register and he then fled on foot.

The robber was described as a white male in his mid-thirties, about 6’ tall with a thin build.

Anyone with information about the robbery is asked to contact the Sheriff’s Office at (386) 668-3830 or Crime Stoppers of Northeast Florida toll-free at 1-888-277-TIPS. Callers to Crime Stoppers will remain anonymous and can qualify for a reward of up to $1,000.
