WOMAN ARRESTED IN DECEMBER DUI CRASH

A DeBary woman was arrested Thursday afternoon following a two-month investigation into a crash that left a pedestrian seriously debilitated. A warrant charging Angela Mclean with DUI with serious bodily injury to another stemmed from a December incident in DeBary when Mclean struck a woman who had been trying to get into her own vehicle. Mclean was transported to the Volusia County Correctional Facility in Daytona Beach without incident.

On Dec. 18, Mclean was driving her 2003 Mitsubishi Outback northbound on Columbine Terrance shortly before 8 p.m. Halley Miller, 21, of Altamonte Springs was trying to get into a parked car when Mclean suddenly struck her and also sideswiped two other cars. Miller was airlifted to Halifax Health Medical Center in Daytona Beach. Responding deputies noticed that Mclean had a strong odor of alcohol and slurred speech. They took a blood sample and submitted it to a Florida Department of Law Enforcement lab. Results produced on Jan. 29 showed a blood alcohol level of .142. Based on this information, Deputy Joe Ramos obtained a warrant signed by Circuit Court Judge Frank Marriott on Thursday. Deputies found Mclean working out at a gym in Orange City and arrested her at 1:09 p.m. The 20-year-old will also face a charge of possession of alcohol by a person under 21. Mclean’s bond is $2,500.

Miller is currently hospitalized at Orlando Regional Lucerne Hospital and undergoing therapy for her injuries.
