MAN HOLDS UP PHARMACY

The Volusia County Sheriff’s Office is investigating a Monday afternoon robbery of a pharmacy near Orange City. A man walked into the business and demanded that the owner give him some drugs. No weapon was ever seen and no one was hurt during the incident. The suspect was able to grab a few bottles of prescription pills and then flee. Several deputies, a K-9 unit and a Sheriff’s Office helicopter responded to the scene, but the suspect was not found.

The Sheriff’s Office was notified that there was a robbery at Saxon Medical Pharmacy, 1209 Saxon Blvd., at approximately 3:04 p.m. The owner told responding deputies that the suspect came in and ordered the owner to hand over some drugs, but the owner initially refused. The frustrated suspect continued to demand drugs and started shoving the owner. Finally, the owner opened up a cabinet and the suspect grabbed some bottles and quickly left.

The robber was described as a white man in his early 30s, approximately 5’10” with a slender build and black hair. He wore a white T-shirt and light-colored pants. He was seen getting into a white, older model pickup truck. Witnesses told deputies that it looked like there was another white male driving the truck, but they weren’t able to provide a description of him.

Anyone with information about the robbery is asked to contact investigator Charles Lee at (386) 668-3830 or Crime Stoppers of Northeast Florida toll-free at 1-888-277-TIPS. Callers to Crime Stoppers will remain anonymous and can qualify for a reward of up to $1,000.
