SHERIFF'S
OFFICE RELEASES VIDEO OF CREDIT CARD THEFT SUSPECTS
Volusia
County Sheriff’s investigators are hoping that recently released
surveillance video of two suspects believed to be involved in the use of
stolen credit cards will prompt citizens to come forward and help
identify the men. Several credit cards have been stolen during car
burglaries in the DeBary area recently, and those cards were then used
at central Florida stores.

One
example case of a car burglary happened July 8 on Snapper Cove Drive,
DeBary. The victim reported that someone had entered his unlocked
vehicle overnight and stolen several items, including a wallet
containing credit cards. The 59-year-old man then found out that his
cards were used that same night at stores in Orange City, Deltona and
Sanford. The thieves charged at least $400, and possibly more, to his
cards before some of the attempted transactions started to be declined.
Investigators
went to the stores where the cards were used and were able to retrieve
video surveillance of two possible suspects. One is a young white male
wearing a black T-shirt with some type of design all over the front of
it, and he wore a dark ball cap backward. The other man was also a young
white male. He was wearing a white T-shirt and a dark ball cap down low
over his face. It’s believed that these two suspects, and possibly
other accomplices, are involved in other similar cases.
Anyone
with information about the thefts is asked to contact sergeant Virgil
Ford at (386) 668-3830 or Crime Stoppers of Northeast Florida,
toll-free, at 1-888-277-TIPS. Callers to Crime Stoppers will
remain anonymous and can qualify for a reward of up to $1,000.
