SHERIFF’S
OFFICE TRYING TO ID BURGLAR IN SURVEILLANCE PHOTO
Volusia
County Sheriff’s investigators are seeking the public’s help in
identifying a burglar who broke into an ice cream shop in Deltona nearly
two weeks ago. The thief, a white man who appears to be in his late
teens or early 20s, burglarized the Deltona Ice Cream Company on Elkcam
Boulevard at around 11 p.m. on Feb. 20. The suspect broke a window to
get into the business after-hours, but left empty-handed after he was
unable to get into a locked cash box.
While
the suspect got away, his crime didn’t go undetected. His movements
inside the business were captured on a surveillance system. The burglar
appeared to have a small scar on his right cheek. He was wearing black
basketball-type shorts with a light-colored strip on the side, a heavy,
dark-colored jacket, dark tennis shoes and a camouflage-style hood.
Anyone
who recognizes the burglar is asked to call Sheriff’s investigator
R.J. Rahn at (386) 860-7030 or Crime Stoppers of Northeast Florida,
toll-free, at (888) 277-TIPS. Callers to Crime Stoppers will remain
anonymous and can qualify for a reward of up to $1,000.
