FOUR PEOPLE ROBBED IN CASSADAGA
The Volusia
County Sheriff’s Office is investigating an
armed robbery that targeted four people from
out of town who said they were sightseeing
in Cassadaga. While taking pictures near a
historic sign, a car suddenly pulled over
and two men and one woman got out and
confronted the visitors. The two men pointed
guns at the victims and demanded their
possessions. They then got back in their car
and sped away. No shot were fired and no one
was injured.
Two men from
Tampa, a woman from Longwood and another
woman from Texas told deputies they were
sightseeing in the Cassadaga area at
approximately 1 a.m. Tuesday morning. They
stopped at an historic sign near 355
Cassadaga Road. As they were taking
pictures, a silver passenger car passed by
them several times. During one of the
passes, the occupants paused to ask the
sightseers where to purchase cigarettes and
then drove away. But a few minutes later the
car returned and pulled off the road. The
car lights were turned off and then two men
and a woman got out and approached the
visitors. The two men had guns and demanded
the victims’ camera and other belongings.
After the robbers collected the camera and
wallets, they got back in their car and
drove away.
