The bodies found inside the house have been tentatively identified as 37-year-old Julyann Rivera and her boyfriend, 34-year-old Jesus Negron. The couple had lived together at 678 Alexander Ave., but had recently separated. Rivera worked for the Sheriff’s Office as a school crossing guard supervisor in Deltona. She was first hired as a school crossing guard four years ago and was promoted to school crossing guard supervisor in September 2008.
Investigators with the Sheriff’s Office’s Major Case Unit have recovered a handgun at the scene. While the Volusia County Medical Examiner’s Office will conduct autopsies to confirm the cause and manner of the deaths, the preliminary investigation at the scene indicates that the deaths appear to be the result of a murder-suicide.
More information will be released as it becomes available.
Update 5:45 p.m.
The Volusia Medical Examiner’s Office removed the two bodies from the scene at 5:38 p.m. today. The autopsies are scheduled to be conducted Thursday morning.
