MAN
ARRESTED FOR ROUGHING UP CANDY-SELLING TEEN
A resident near
Ormond Beach is facing a child abuse charge after he was accused on
Wednesday of roughing up a 13-year-old boy who was selling candy
door-to-door and then threatening to get a gun if the boy returned.
Volusia County
Sheriff’s deputies patrolling the John Anderson Drive neighborhood
were flagged down by the boy at about 5 p.m. The victim told
deputies that he was in the area selling candy for a program called
teens against drugs and alcohol. The boy said that when he came up
to 1544 John Anderson Drive, a man came out the front door yelling
at him and grabbed him by the shirt. The man then dragged the boy --
causing him to bump his head on a piece of lawn furniture -- and
threw the victim’s container of candy at him while warning that he
would get his gun if the teen came back. The boy ran away and called
the head of the program to let him know what had happened. Moments
later, the boy spotted the deputies in the area and flagged them
down to report the incident.
While being
interviewed by deputies, 47-year-old Burt Bialozynski admitted
pushing the boy and threatening to get his gun. He said he acted out
of aggravation because there had been boys in the neighborhood
stealing property and he thought the teen was one of them. Deputies
arrested Bialozynski and transported him to the Volusia County
Branch Jail, where he was booked in under a $1,000 bond.
