POLICE CHIEF PROMOTES JAKOVENKO TO SERGEANT
The
Port Orange Police Department is proud to announce the
promotion of Detective John Jakovenko to the rank of Sergeant.
The promotion was effective Monday March 31st,
2008.
Originally
from New Jersey, Sergeant Jakovenko served four years in the
United States Marine Corps prior to joining the Port Orange
Police Department in 1995. Working for the Department, he
served two years in the patrol division until his assignment
to the traffic division (motors), where he spent the next
seven years. From motors, Sergeant Jakovenko was then assigned
to the criminal investigations division where he spent his
last 4.5 years until his most recent promotion to sergeant. In
addition to his patrol, traffic and detective assignments,
Sergeant Jakovenko was also a field training officer and
served for 11 years on the Department’s Emergency Response
Team.
Sergeant
Jakovenko is a recipient of numerous commendations and letters
of recognition over his 13-year tenure with the Police
Department to include two medals for merit and one medal for
heroism. Sergeant Jakovenko resides in Port Orange with his
wife Stacey and their family. Sergeant Jakovenko will assume
the duties of Patrol Sergeant assigned to the first platoon.
