CHIEF MONAHAN PROMOTES LONG TO THE RANK OF SERGEANT
The
Port Orange Police Department is proud to announce the
promotion of Officer Kenneth Long to the rank of Sergeant. The
promotion was effective Monday March 31st, 2008.
Originally from Jacksonville,
North Carolina, Sergeant Long retired at the rank of Captain
after serving eighteen years in the United States Air Force.
He joined the Port Orange Police Department in 2002 where he
has worked in the patrol division since that time to include
being actively involved as a field training officer.
Sergeant Long is a recipient of
several commendations and letters of recognition over his
6-year tenure with the Police Department to include being
selected as Officer of the Quarter in 2004 and again in 2007.
Sergeant Long holds a Bachelors of Science Degree and a
Master’s Degree in Business Administration.
Sergeant Long resides
in Port Orange with his wife of 29 years Deborah and they have
two adult children, Christina and Joseph. Sergeant Long will
assume the duties of Patrol Sergeant assigned to the second
platoon
