ARREST WARRANT OBTAINED FOR FRAUD SUSPECT

On September 18, 2008 a locker at the Port Orange YMCA was forcibly broken into, during which time the victim’s wallet was stolen. A short time later the below defendant responded to the Port Orange Wal-Mart and Target stores, where he fraudulently made purchases using the victims credit cards. The defendant was able to unlawfully purchase two Sony Bravia 46 inch televisions, two laptop computers, two portable power cords, and Sony camcorders. The total theft from both stores was approximately $ 6,000.00.

On November 20, 2008 the Port Orange Police Criminal Investigations Unit solicited the assistance of the Media, as of that date we had quality videotape showing the suspect, but had not yet been able to identify him.

On November 24, 2008 the Orange County Sheriff’s Office arrested the defendant regarding a domestic violence incident in their jurisdiction, based on BOLO information and Media accounts they notified us and felt their arrestee could be our suspect. Port Orange Police Investigator Scott Brozio then formulated a photo lineup and showed it to a Wal-Mart cashier who identified the Defendant as the person that made the unlawful purchases on the day in question.

On November 26, 2008 Port Orange Police Investigator Scott Brozio met with Honorable Judge William Parsons who signed an arrest warrant against the Defendant (Stefan L. Waldroup) for Fraudulent Use of a Credit Card over $ 100.00. The bond was stipulated at $ 25, 000.00. The arrest warrant will be served against the Defendant at the 33rd Street Jail in Orlando where he is currently incarcerated.
