POLICE WARN RESIDENTS ABOUT DAYTIME
BURGLARIES
The
Port Orange Police Department is currently investigating a
series of daytime residential burglaries throughout various
locations within the City. The residential burglaries have
occurred in the Cross Creek Subdivision, Seminole Woods
Subdivision, Deep Forest Subdivision, and the Groves
Subdivision.
We
have experienced six actual daytime burglaries and two
attempted burglaries. The burglaries started on January 6,
2009 and the most recent incident was on January 22, 2009. The
method of operation has been for the suspect(s) to walk to the
rear of the residence, and utilize items already at the scene.
Propane tanks, golf clubs, and other items have been used to
break glass windows leading into the residence. The suspect(s)
have focused on jewelry as being their priority once inside of
the residence.
On
January 22, 2009 a homeowner from the Groves Subdivision
returned home at approximately 1:00 pm and found a late model,
silver in color, Nissan Altima, four-door, type vehicle in his
driveway. When the homeowner entered his residence, he
observed a white male suspect in the rear patio area. The
white male suspect was able to flee the area in the vehicle
described.
If
anyone has any information concerning the daytime burglaries
please contact Detective Sergeant David Meyer at #
386-506-5882.
