THREE ARRESTS MADE IN DAYTIME BURGLARIES

The Port Orange Police Department has been investigating a series of eight daytime residential burglaries throughout various locations within the City. The residential burglaries occurred in the Cross Creek Subdivision, Seminole Woods Subdivision, Deep Forest Subdivision, Groves Subdivision, and the Oakland Park Subdivision.

The burglaries started on January 6, 2009 and the most recent incident was on January 30, 2009. The method of operation has been for the suspect(s) to walk to the rear of the residence, and utilize items already at the scene. Propane tanks, golf clubs, and other items have been used to break glass windows leading into the residence. The suspect(s) focused on jewelry and electronics as being their priority once inside of the residence.

On January 22, 2009 a homeowner from the Groves Subdivision returned home at approximately 1:00 pm and found a late model, silver in color, Nissan Altima, four-door, type vehicle in his driveway. When the homeowner entered his residence, he observed a white male suspect in the rear patio area. The white male suspect was able to flee the area in the vehicle described.

On January 27, 2009 Lt. Scott Stiltner observed a similar vehicle bearing a Florida tag; the registered owner had an extensive criminal history involving burglaries. The Criminal Investigation Division initiated surveillance on the vehicle and occupants. Further investigation led to the recovery of stolen property from five daytime burglaries.

On January 30, 2009 the below listed three individuals were arrested at 900 Village Trail and charged with burglary, grand theft, trafficking in stolen property, and dealing in stolen property.
