                                  FATAL TRAFFIC ACCIDENT ON SPRUCE CREEK ROAD                                    

At approximately 2:30 AM on 04/28/10, Port Orange Police and Fire Rescue responded to the 4200 block of Spruce Creek Road in regards to a single vehicle crash. Once on scene the initial investigation discovered that a 2004 Saturn was traveling southbound on Spruce Creek Road (just south of Oak Street) at what appears to be a high rate of speed. The vehicle left the roadway and crashed into several trees. The driver of vehicle, identified as 20-year-old Anthony P. Hemingway Jr., of Port Orange, was transported to Halifax Medical Center by EVAC ambulance. Mr. Hemingway was pronounced expired by Halifax Medical Center staff at approximately 4:00 AM on this date.
