                                                   FATAL TRAFFIC ACCIDENT

At 11:10 PM on 04/24/10, Port Orange Police and Fire Rescue responded to the intersection of Ridgewood Avenue and Nova Road in regards to a single vehicle crash. Once on scene the initial investigation discovered that a 2002 Lexus was traveling south on Nova Road at what appears to be a high rate of speed. The vehicle intended to turn right (southbound) onto Ridgewood Avenue. The driver failed to negotiate the turn and subsequently lost control of the vehicle. The vehicle collided with the traffic signal mast arm at the intersection causing significant damage to the vehicle. Port Orange Fire Rescue and EVAC arrived on scene and pronounced the driver expired at the scene.   

The sole occupant of the vehicle has been identified as 24 year-old Christopher A. Brown of Port Orange.
