                                   FIREFIGHTER ARRESTED ON ADDITIONAL CHARGES

On May 24, 2010 Firefighter Michael Michaud was arrested on Burglary and Schemes to Defraud charges involving multiple victims. A press release was completed on the same date and since that time the Port Orange Police Department has received additional complaints from new victims. The new charges stem from a time frame previous to his initial arrest on May 24, 2010.

 

The Criminal Investigation Division uncovered that Firefighter Michael Michaud did engage in a scheme to defraud multiple Port Orange residents. This scheme consisted of an ongoing systematic course of conduct in order to obtain prescription medications under false and fraudulent pretenses, representations, of future acts. Firefighter Michael Michaud perpetrated these crimes in order to obtain prescription medication for his own use and benefit. 

On June 1, 2010 Detective Sergeant David Meyer obtained additional arrest warrants against Firefighter Michael Michaud for Burglary of an Occupied Dwelling with a stipulated bond of $5,000.00 and another charge of Burglary of a Dwelling with a bond of $5,000.00. He was subsequently arrested at 10:00 am near 1640 Taylor Road in Port Orange.
