Bob Boggs welcomed all to the meeting and asked for Law Enforcement reports.
Officer Bob Ray, Port Orange Police Department, spoke of improvements made to catch speeders and also apprehension of DUI offenders, etc.
Bob Boggs told of the meeting recently held on discussion of the motorcyclist accidents and fatalities during Octoberfest, noting several factors are weighed, such as number of people this year vs. last, weather conditions, drinking, experienced vs. inexperienced riders. Bootsie of ABATE said she is doing an in depth report on this also and they are looking at such factors as how many miles did you ride in Daytona Beach, how long have you been riding, etc. When asked how her organization feels about the recent no helmet law, Bootsie said they give them freedom of choice.
Tony Nosse, FDOT, reported on the last months Problems and Solutions and asked for new ones. Officer Larry Lanier, Ormond Beach Police Dept., turned one in for the left turn lane at U.S.1 & S.R.40; and one was turned in for the crossing at S.R.44, west of I95 in New Smyrna Beach.
Barry Wall, FDOT went over some of the events listed in their District 5 Report for December.
A motion was made, seconded and passed to send a letter to Mike Snyder at the FDOT regarding the support of the CTST of their Tentative 5-Yr. Work Program.
Lois Bollenback passed out the results of the Seat Belt Survey which was quite favorable.
Following the break, the individual committee members met and there being no other business, the meeting adjourned at 11:10 am.
