February Meeting MINUTES
March 1, 2001
Bob Boggs welcomed everyone to the meeting and asked for Law Enforcement reports.
The big discussion, of course, was the Races. Gay Anderson, Crossing Guard, Volusia County Sheriffs Office, said they were very pleased this year at Dunn and Bill France and this years traffic controlling was the best yet. Mikey Fair, Student Transportation, agreed, as did other Law Enforcement officers.
With regard to Bike Week now at the door, Lt. Leonard Zimmerer, FHP, said theyve changed some situations to accommodate trouble areas and hope to have a safer event. Ponce Inlet, combined with Daytona Beach Shores, will be looking for ways to improve things also.
Debbie King, Trauma Program Coordinator for Halifax Medical Center, will be doing services and statistics. They want to put cards in hotels and other biker places stressing safety and will be sending out press releases on a daily basis. Debbie reminded us that there are three times as many patients in Intensive Care who didnt wear helmets.
John Izzo went over the crash reports. Ken Harly, FDOT, announced there is an accident traffic record system available on software hed be glad to discuss with anyone.
Tony Nosse, FDOT, went over the Problems and Solutions from last month and asked for new ones. There were no new ones.
The individual committees met and then, there being no further issues, the meeting adjourned at 11:50.
