WEST VOLUSIA COUNTY COMMUNITY TRAFFIC SAFETY PROGRAM

YEAR 2001 GOALS

 

MISSION STATEMENT: TO REDUCE THE NUMBER OF FATALITIES, INJURIES AND THE SEVERITY OF INJURIES DUE TO CRASHES IN WEST VOLUSIA.

GOAL #1: IDENTIFY TRAFFIC SAFETY PROBLEMS AND ISSUES CRITICAL TO REDUCING FATALITIES AND INJURIES IN WEST VOLUSIA COUNTY.

Objectives:

A.    Reduce the total number of fatalities and injuries in West Volusia County.

B.     Reduce the number of alcohol-related fatalities and injuries in West Volusia County.

C.     Reduce the total number of fatalities and injuries for bicyclists in West Volusia County.

D.     Reduce the total number of fatalities and injuries for pedestrians in West Volusia County.

E.     Increase safety belt usage in West Volusia County to seventy-five percent (75%).

 

GOAL #2: DEVELOP STRATEGIES TO RELIEVE THE AMOUNT OF CRASHES IN WEST VOLUSIA COUNTY.

Objectives:

A.     Conduct (3) multi-agency activities including D.U.I. checkpoints and Wolfpacks.

B.     Promote "Buckle-Up Florida" in cooperation with FHP four (4) times per year.

C.    Continue use of Study Request Forms and the method for logging to determine the reduction of reported roadway hazards.

 

GOAL # 3: INCREASE CTST TEAM PARTICIPATION BY TEN (10%).

Objectives:

A.     Recruit two (2) team members from local municipalities.

B.     Recruit two (2) new private organizations to actively participate on team.

C.     Retain the existing multi-agency discipline membership count.

 

GOAL #4: CREATE MORE PUBLIC AWARENESS OF THE WEST VOLUSIA COUNTY CTSP.

Objectives:

A.     Make three (3) presentations to agencies or organizations about CTSP.

B.     Generate fifty percent (50%) more news releases about team activities.

C.     Submit three (3) PSA's for radio, TV, billboard, or cable television.

D.     Maintain a log of promotional announcements and news releases.

E.     Publish an End-of-Year Report on team accomplishments.

 

GOAL #5: MAINTAIN TEAM STRENGTH BY ESTABLISHING LONG-TERM FINANCIAL SUPPORT FROM OUTSIDE AGENCIES.

Objectives:

A.     Establish two (2) new projects and the funds needed to promote the projects.

B.     Continue strong team leadership for effective CTSP.
