Event Date(s)

Begins: November 9, 2019 10:00 am
Ends: November 9, 2019 3:00 pm

Celebrate Volusia County’s native plants and animals during Wildlife Fest from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 9, at the Marine Science Center, 100 Lighthouse Drive, Ponce Inlet.

Attendees can meet glove-trained birds of prey, observe sea turtles undergoing rehabilitation, and visit booths staffed by nature groups and environmental organizations. The festival will also feature music, children’s activities and food vendors.

Animal rehabilitation staff will explain how they care for injured birds and sea turtles and offer tips to help conserve wildlife habitats. Children can buy or bring a stuffed animal and ask staff to check it out for “injuries.”

Admission to the Marine Science Center will be free all day.

Parking at the Marine Science Center is limited. Votran will provide free shuttle service from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. from the 7-Eleven, 4618 S. Atlantic Ave., Ponce Inlet.

Since opening in 2002, the Marine Science Center has cared for more than 24,000 sea turtles and more than 1,400 gopher tortoises, freshwater turtles and snakes. The Mary Keller Seabird Rehabilitation Facility at the Marine Science Center has received more than 18,000 birds since opening in 2004.

Wildlife Fest is sponsored by the Friends of the Marine Science Center, Alexis Lenssen of Raymond James, Donnie’s Donuts, the Ice Queen Truck, Jeep Beach and Ravenwood Veterinary Clinic.
