Meet some dedicated service dogs as Wendy Hartman shares information about New Horizons Service Dogs and the difference among working dogs at 1 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 18, at DeBary Hall Historic Site, 198 Sunrise Blvd., DeBary.

She will explain the benefits of service dogs and why you shouldn't take your pet everywhere you go.

Hartman, who was voted Teacher of the Year in 2004, made a positive difference in the lives of Central Florida residents as a public school teacher for 23 yearsShe continued serving others when she began volunteering as a puppy raiser with New Horizons Service Dogs 10 years ago. More than 20 puppies and numerous new puppy raiser recruits later, she accepted the role of assistant director this summer. In her new role, she continues to educate the public, clients and puppy raisers.

Her presentation is part of the free Lemonade Lectures series, which is sponsored by the Friends of DeBary Hall and Volusia County. Light refreshments and lemonade will be served.
