Reflections on Emily Dickinson

Event Date(s)

Begins: March 8, 2018 2:00 pm
Ends: March 8, 2018 3:00 pm

Retired schoolteacher Irene Curran will look back on poet Emily Dickinson’s life at 2 p.m. Thursday, March 8, at the New Smyrna Beach Regional Library, 1001 S. Dixie Freeway.

Dressed as Dickinson, Curran will discuss “The Belle of Amherst,” a one-act play by William Luce based on the poet’s life; and “The Lady in White,” a poetically imagined account of her life by Christian Bobin.

Dickinson spent the last few years of her life in her bedroom writing poetry that was not appreciated by the public until many years after her death. Curran will recite and share some of her poems and talk about her life and the scandal that erupted after her death.

Reservations are not required for the free program. For more information, call 386-424-2910, option 4.
