Folk music concert

Folk musician Al Scortino will perform from 11 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Friday, March 23, at the DeLand Regional Library, 130 E. Howry Ave.

Scortino, who has been writing and singing folk music for 30 years, is one of the founding members of The Ashley Gang, a Florida native band. He recently released a solo CD titled “Gibtown.”

He won first place for Best Contemporary Song at the 2014 North Florida Acoustic Music Festival for his song “Just Like You,” and second place in 2013 at the South Florida Folk Festival national songwriting competition with his song "Mollie's Makeup.” He has also finished second twice in the Will McLean song contest.
