In a ritual that takes place at the end of every winter, snowbirds lock up their Florida houses and RVs for another year and head back to their northern digs. But how secure are the homes they leave behind?
Lisa Hamilton will offer tips on preparing seasonal homes for temporary closure at 1 p.m. Monday, March 26, at the DeLand Regional Library, 130 E. Howry Ave.
Topics will include preparing the interior and exterior, preventing mold and mildew, preparing for storms, warding off pests, updating documents, and protecting against burglars.
Hamilton is an agent with the University of Florida/Volusia County Extension.
Reservations are not required. For more information, call the library at 386-822-6430, ext. 20762.
