The Volusia County Farmers Market will celebrate cut foliage and honor military personnel from 9 to 11:30 a.m. Wednesday, May 16. The farmers market, operated by the Volusia County Farm Bureau, is open each Wednesday at the Volusia County Fairgrounds, 3050 E. New York Ave., DeLand.
Military personnel and veterans are asked to wear their military hats so they can be recognized and honored.
Red, white and blue foliage decorations will be provided by FernTrust Inc. of Seville.
Local grower George Benedict will demonstrate cooking with fresh red beets from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m.
Staff from the University of Florida/Volusia County Extension will share information about white foods to consider in your diet and offer samples of fresh Florida blueberries used as a topping.
