Poet to read from his works

Poet Terrance Hayes will read from his works at 5:30 p.m. Wednesday, May 23, at the New Smyrna Beach Regional Library, 1001 S. Dixie Freeway. He will sign books after his presentation.

Hayes is the Pabst endowed chair for master writers at the Atlantic Center for the Arts. He is the poetry editor for “New York Times Magazine” and has taught at Carnegie Mellon University and the University of Pittsburgh.

His most recent poetry collection is “How to be Drawn.” His previous collection, “Lighthead,” won the 2010 National Book Award and was a finalist for the National Book Critics Circle and Hurston-Wright awards.
