Joe “Survival” Caruso is bringing his bluesy style to the Deltona Regional Library, 2150 Eustace Ave., for a free concert at 2 p.m. Sunday, July 8.
Caruso grew up in New Orleans listening to Ray Charles, Count Basie, Fats Domino and other famous rhythm and blues singers. After serving in the Vietnam War, he formed the band, Survival, and performed in Louisiana and California. In 2005, he brought his mother to Florida to get away from Hurricane Katrina’s aftermath, and they decided to stay.
His old-style blues, which has made him a popular performer around Central Florida, crosses generations by adding in a little rock ’n’ roll and boogie-woogie to his Bourbon Street sound.
The concert is sponsored by Friends of Deltona Library, a nonprofit group that supports library activities.
Reservations are not required. For more information, call the library at 386-789-7207, option 1, then 4.
