History of women in music

Jean Wald will discuss the history of women in music from 1 to 2 p.m. Wednesday, July 18, at the DeLand Regional Library, 130 E. Howry Ave.

She will provide examples of music performed and composed by women, beginning with the 12th century’s Hildegard of Bingen up to today’s female composers, including 2017 Pulitzer Prize winner Du Yun.

Wald is a music specialist and research librarian at Stetson University’s duPont-Ball Library. She has degrees in music education, music history and librarianship.
