Low-impact Development Workshop

Volusia County will present a Low-impact Development Workshop from 6 to 7:30 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 1, at Lyonia Environmental Center, 2150 Eustace Ave., Deltona.

Low-impact development is an approach to land development and redevelopment that works with nature to manage stormwater as close to its source as possible.

Speakers and their topics are:

  • Katrina Locke and Kelli McGee: The history of smart growth and sustainable water use programs in Volusia County
  • Fred Milch: Low-impact development, green infrastructure and conservation subdivisions
  • Clay Ervin: Water quality and conservation policies, the Farmton Local Plan, and the county‚Äôs sustainability action plan

After the presentations, the speakers will take part in a panel Q-and-A.

The free workshop is coordinated by Green Volusia, a county initiative to provide information about environmentally responsible practices and encourage stewardship and conservation of natural resources.
