Ryan Lowry will present “1945: The Year the War Ended” at 2 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 15, at DeBary Hall Historic Site, 198 Sunrise Blvd., DeBary.
The Orlando resident will discuss the events of 1945 and display some of the 7,000 World War II artifacts he has collected since he was 12 years old.
Lowry is manager of Patriot Preservation, which hosts traveling exhibits of his collection. Some of his artifacts include a song and prayer book from the USS Arizona, a girl’s dress made from D-Day parachutes, and documents from Adolph Hitler’s office.
His free presentation is part of the Lemonade Lectures series, which is sponsored by the Friends of DeBary Hall and Volusia County. Light refreshments and lemonade will be served.
DeBary Hall Historic Site, which is listed on the National Register of Historic Places, is owned by the state and managed by Volusia County’s Parks, Recreation and Culture Division.
