Daring spirit Amelia Earhart became the first woman to fly across the Atlantic in 1928 and then solo in 1932.  

Irene Curran, a retired language arts teacher from New Jersey, will discuss Earhart's life, flying achievements and the many theories for her disappearance at 2 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 17, at the New Smyrna Beach Regional Library, 1001 S. Dixie Freeway.
