Ends: February 4, 2019 11:30 am

Award-winning playwright Ann Magaha will share her insights into the “Wizard of Earthsea” by Ursula Le Guin at 10:30 a.m. Monday, Feb. 4, at the DeLand Regional Library, 130 E. Howry Ave.

She will touch on the author and the book’s setting, as well as the story itself.

Published in 1968, the fantasy novel is the first of the six-part Earthsea series. The story focuses on Ged, who was the reckless Sparrowhawk in his youth and became the greatest sorcerer in Earthsea. In his hunger for power and knowledge, he tampered with long-held secrets and loosed a terrible shadow upon the world. The novel tells the tale of his testing, how he mastered the mighty words of power, tamed an ancient dragon, and crossed death's threshold to restore the balance.
